Kitchen Counter Remodel and Style

October 3, 2016

Although it may seem like a simple and easy task for some, finding the perfect bar stools for our kitchen/bar area has been a long and dreadful process for me. You see, I am a pretty picky person when it comes to making purchases for my home. I’d much rather live longer with rooms that look half done than to choose an item that I’ll end up regretting a year or even months later. I need to see every option out there, price check, get the OK from the mister, and close my eyes as I click to confirm the order. Does anyone else close their eyes when they purchase expensive things on the internet? Just me?

The bar top is a new addition from the renovation we did earlier this year. We took out half the wall and added cabinets to the other side, which created a much more open and airy feel from the kitchen to the dining room.  Now, with more light coming through, this has made the dining room more appealing to sit in. We are so in love with how it has turned out. Such a difference and feel to the home from this small adjustment. Since then, I’ve been on the search for the perfect stool to compliment the space. I had a couple of key points in mind. First, it had to be decently priced. With V on the way, we have our hands full with making purchases for the nursery… so having something of good quality yet priced well was ideal. Second, a modern design. My style has gone from vintage grandma to pretty modern, with white, wood and different metals mixed in. Lastly, a lighter color and/or with chrome/silver hardware to blend well with the rest of the kitchen. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. Way harder than I thought.

While when I thought the search was never going to end, I came across this crystal clear bar stool by Apt2B. These were PERFECT and exactly what I was looking for. Not only does it blend so well with our acrylic stand around the corner and chrome finish of the cabinets, but since we still plan to get a kitchen island, the airy design won’t overpower the small and narrow space.  We couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out. We also found this amazing 12 bottle chrome wine rack to complete the clean and simple look.

Next on our list… window treatments, dining room art, and kitchen island! Always a work in progress. Stay tuned!
