The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch

May 25, 2016

About a week ago, JJ and I had the pleasure of enjoying a night “away” at The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. The AAA Four Diamond Resort, reopened on September 8, 2015 after a $10 million renovation. The additions include: two new restaurants and bar, a transformed main pool, enhanced guest rooms, a significant addition of outdoor and event spaces, and a much more open concept throughout the resort. Although I can’t compare the before and after as I never physically saw the resort before the renovation, you can tell the upgrades they put into it without taking away its old charm. A beautiful resort.

JJ and I checked in, unpacked our things, and walked around the resort before heading straight to the main pool for a long day of cabana time and relaxation.  We ordered lunch and beverages from Twisted Vine; and spent the day swimming, people watching, and lounging in our chairs while listening to good music. JJ and I are often prepared for the possibility of no music, so we brought our speakers with us. That is probably the one thing I would recommend to The Scottsdale Resort. We are such music people, especially while relaxing by a pool. Even a little music for all ages in the bar area would have people enjoying themselves that much more.  The service is great, the cabanas are clean, and pool area is large and inviting. Overall, a great place to relax.

After a long day of fun in the sun, it was time to dress up and head to happy hour at Bar Six40 followed by dinner at Kitchen West Restaurant.

The atmosphere was quaint and mellow, exactly what you’re looking for in a resort dining experience. A place where it feels like it is just the two of you. We were sat at a table by the window so we were able to watch the sunset while enjoying chorizo hush puppies and shishito peppers as an appetizer. A little mix of savory and vegetable. JJ ordered the halibut for dinner and I kept it safe with the Spring Harvest Pelmini Pasta. I was in the mood for something hardy and non-fishy that evening (pregnancy problems). We loved our dishes, and even made room for dessert… because there is always room for dessert. The Magnificent Seven, which is seven beignets dipped in chocolate pudding. Yes, please! Everything was delicious and we even took the leftover hush puppies to go to enjoy for breakfast. After dinner, we called it a night and headed to bed early.

This is an absolutely beautiful resort. From the front desk and valet, to the wait staff; everyone is very accommodating and kind. Thank you, Scottsdale Resort for having us and we look forward to seeing you again!
