I am so excited to introduce you to my latest blog series, “Dog of the Week” featuring a dog from Phoenix, Arizona who is available for adoption. As many of you know, I am an advocate for choosing a family pet through local shelters, and it is a personal goal of mine to one day own a rescue. We adopted our second puppy, King a few months ago and fostered a puppy earlier this year for a week. Due to the fact that our princess Lucy does not play well with others, it keeps me from fostering again at the moment.
I reached out to Arizona Small Dog Rescue ‘s marketing contact a week ago with the idea to incorporate dogs from their shelter into my photo shoots. I was thrilled to hear that they loved the idea and we got to work immediately.
Meet Imara, a 9 month old Field Spaniel mix. She was pulled off the euthanasia list from the county kill shelter where she was turned in as a stray dog. County holds stray animals for 72 hours before evaluating them and putting them on the “e-list”. Imara was on the list for the allergies around her eyes that can easily be treated with a grain-free diet. She is spayed, up to date on shots and licensed through Maricopa County. Her adoption fee is $180. She is good with all other dogs, kids and people.
Bringing this little girl back to the shelter that evening was painful. I really wanted to bring her home with me. If it weren’t for Lucy’s discomfort with an additional pup, there is no doubt that I wouldn’t have. She was so well behaved, sweet, and just an all around happy girl. We made an immediate connection and she was over the moon just feel someone else’s touch. I can’t speak more highly of her and you would be silly to not take her just because of her allergy.
This Pit-bull sugar skull tank from Karma for a Cure is very fitting for this day. Margaux Minutolo, who is the founder and designer; gives back 10% of the proceeds to the specific charity associated with the design. This tank is in support of at-risk animals. I’m obsessed.
If you are unable to rescue my dear Imara, please do me a huge favor and share this post. You never know who could be in the market for an amazing new family member!
