Hotel Valley Ho

February 14, 2017

What better way to feel like you’re going on vacation, than to pack your bag and drive 20 minutes to stay at the coolest hotel in the valley for the weekend. Without a doubt, Hotel Valley Ho has always been one of our favorites. With three months post baby under our belt, we finally felt ready for our first couple of nights “away” and had nothing more planned than enjoying a relaxing weekend together.

The Mid Century Modern hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale, with a colorful and unique style; it attracts people of all ages and becomes a trendy oasis during the summer months at the OH Pool. Celebrating their 60th anniversary, Hotel Valley Ho was a true Hollywood hideaway, a place to escape as the paparazzi would never follow them to Scottsdale. It then reopened on December 20, 2005, and revamped to appear better than ever with their new additions: ZuZu, VH Spa, and the OH Pool. Now being the hotel we know and adore.

We arrived Friday evening and checked into our Tower Two-Bedroom Suite. With an open concept in the main room, the second bedroom was used to accommodate Vivienne and her nap schedule. I couldn’t have asked for a better setup than what we had. Between the full kitchen, washer/dryer, and spacious walk-in closet, the second bedroom was used to change her diaper and a place for her to take her naps. Just like home, we were able to organize a space just for her. It was a dream. Oh, and did I mention that the hotel is pet friendly? Yup! We brought our ENTIRE family 🙂

That night, we (all 3 of us) had dinner at ZuZu Restaurant & Café. The cocktail lounge was full of guests sipping on their cocktails, listening to live music, and enjoying the company by their side. It was the place to be. ZuZu is popular for showcasing a modern twist with a classic fare, the food here is absolutely delicious! We started off with the Crispy Pork Belly and Sweet Chili Glazed Shrimp, both just as good as the other. For dinner, I had the Pan Seared Scallops and my husband enjoyed the Filet. The Scallops were light and fresh, exactly what I was looking for that evening. Vivienne grew tired once 7pm hit, so we corked our wine and had our Chocolate cake to go. I didn’t complain as it made the perfect late night snack 🙂

Saturday morning, I had a 90-minute massage at the VH Spa with Karin. This was my first treatment post baby… and boy was it needed. I was informed that since I had so many knots surrounding my shoulder blades, that it was not allowing my arms to have full range of motion.  Eek! I wasn’t surprised to be honest. My body has been adjusting and getting used to hunching while nursing, and constantly holding and picking up Vivienne throughout the day. I am trying to work on it. But seriously, I was a new woman after that massage! I got back to the room, changed, and we headed down to ZuZu Café for brunch. Mimosas, eggs benedict, what more can you ask for? I am kind of basic when it comes to brunch. Eggs Benedict is my jam and ZuZu’s was perfect! Oh, and try their cinnamon bun for start. It was heavenly.

How do you have this amazing suite and not want to share it with your friends? Saturday evening, we invited a few couples over for game night. We ate pizza, listened to music, and laughed the rest of the night at each other as we played Quelf. If you have never played that game, go get it immediately! It is such a hilarious game to play with a group of friends. Vivienne was there too! Sleeping soundly in the next room.

Thank you to Hotel Valley Ho, for getting us out of the house and inviting us to stay in your suite. It was exactly what we needed and we couldn’t have asked for a better setup for Vivienne. It was perfect. If you visiting Arizona or looking at where to have your next staycation, be sure to experience the Tower Suite!
