The Moxy

May 9, 2016

Today, I am introducing you to the new innovative hotel located in Tempe, AZ, Moxy Hotels! This is the second location for the Moxy in the US, first being in Milan, Italy with future plans to expand globally. Since I don’t often travel to Tempe, it gave me a great excuse to explore a new area in Arizona.

I attended their grand-opening event a few weeks prior hosted by The  James Agency and Phoenix Fashion Week. The event was a lot of fun, as they provided great food and drinks (Italian inspired, my favorite) a fashion show, and was able to get a brief look at a selection of rooms. The hotel seemed quaint, vibrant, yet perfectly decorated for the hip traveler. I was given the chance to come back and get the full experience for a staycation the following weekend. It just so happens that JJ and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary as well, which was a perfect time for a little vacation.

We arrived at the hotel around 3pm on Saturday and went straight to the bar! No, not for alcohol… but to check-in.  A neat alternative to your average check-in desk. Alright, so we grabbed a cocktail/mock tail too. We brought our bags to the room, unpacked, and did a couple laps around the hotel before committing to a pool cabana the rest of the afternoon. So, what is my favorite thing about the hotel? Other than the trendy décor, I would have to say the endless amount of games they provide. What kind of games you ask? Every kind of game you could ask for. Board games, arcade games, bag toss, etc. It’s really a perfect touch to the hotel and I wish more did this. On vacation but it decides to rain? Game day!

We spent a couple hours by the pool before getting ready for our anniversary dinner. You have multiple floats, pool cabanas, towels, and music to lounge with but I will say, we did wish the music was a tad louder. The front desk also provides guests with snacks like goldfish and skittles (all I need) and a few other options for purchase if desired.

Back in the room, we took our time getting ready. It was partially due to the fact that the  Moxy provides a vinyl and a selection of classic records to each room. JJ played Al Green, Tired of Being Alone probably ten times over and over again. How cool is this concept? Who doesn’t love records? We headed out for a great dinner at Quiescence at South Farm  and later came back to more music and games before hitting the sheets! We woke up refreshed and ready to head back home to our puppies.

We had a great stay at The Moxy and would recommend it to everyone traveling in for business, pleasure, or just a little staycation. Thank you so much for having us!
